Growing up near the Chesapeake Bay has given me the opportunity to experience pond, river, bay, and ocean fishing. Through these experiences I have gained an understanding of the importance of the perfect rod for specific fishing techniques. I started making rods as a hobby after taking a rod building class because I could not find that perfect rod. I built my first fishing rod in March 2016. Friends asked me where I got it and after I told them I built they asked me to build a rod for them too. As more and more friends asked for rods, my hobby turned into Old 87 Custom Rods.
To date, I have built 100’s of custom fishing rods ranging from light freshwater to stand up offshore rods. I take pride in all my workmanship and use only high-quality materials to build my rods. My rods come with a lifetime warranty on all workmanship, including but not limited to, guide wraps, butt wraps, grips, reel seats, and gimbals. All blanks come backed with a lifetime warranty. If the blank ever cracks or breaks, you get a new blank free of charge, minus labor cost for building. I also do rod repairs that include new grips, epoxy, gimbals, guides, and reel seats.
We offer all sorts of customization’s including custom grips either full or split grips using EVA foam, cork, carbon fiber, or shrink wrap. We offer custom logos or any saying you may want on your rod.
